Mohan Yadav has been named the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ending speculation that Shivraj Singh Chouhan would return for a fifth term. Chouhan, who served as Chief Minister four times, congratulated his colleague. The BJP had prolonged the suspense by holding multiple meetings to choose the next Chief Minister. Yadav, the Education Minister in the outgoing government, won from Ujjain South seat in the November Assembly election. The BJP won 163 of the 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh.
