Arrests Made in Bend Murder Case, Brother Also Sought

Caleb Joseph Cegers, the suspect in the fatal shooting of a Redmond man outside a bar in downtown Bend, Oregon, was arrested without incident in Cleveland, Tennessee, along with his brother, Dahnte Nathaniel Cegers. Caleb is accused of second-degree murder, while Dahnte is charged with hindering prosecution. The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office expressed gratitude to the United States Marshal's Service and the Cleveland Police Department for their assistance in the arrests. The brothers were apprehended on nationwide felony arrest warrants, and Caleb is considered armed and dangerous.

SE Bend gas station opponents appeal to state land-use board.

Opposing neighbors of a controversial southeast Bend gas station have appealed the city's approval to the state Land Use Board of Appeals, citing environmental and traffic concerns. They have also reached out to the Andretti Group, the holding company of GP Energy/Colvin Oil, to seek common ground and appeal directly to Michael Andretti to respect the over 2,000 residents who do not want a gas station in their neighborhood. The opponents would like to have electric charging stations instead, as they believe that's where the future of Bend is.

Ibex Global closes Bend call center, shifts remaining employees to remote work.

Ibex Global, a customer service call center in Bend, Oregon, laid off about 100 workers and closed its office on Southwest Hill Street due to the loss of a customer support contract with DirectTV. The company shifted an undisclosed number of employees to work from home. The facility, which opened as iSKY with 75 workers in 2000, had boomed with the rise of high-tech to some 850 employees, later taking the parent company's name as TRG Customer Solutions and later Ibex Global.

Spate of Bend Food Cart Burglaries and Arby's Crash Shock Community

At least 10 food carts, coffee stands, and restaurants were burglarized in Bend, Oregon, overnight on Thursday and Friday. The burglars broke doors and windows to enter the businesses and took cash, cash registers, iPads, tablets, and point-of-sale technology. Police believe all the burglaries were committed by the same suspect or suspects driving a Mazda Miata with a beige convertible top. The incidents caused hundreds of dollars in damage to each of the businesses. Police have released security photos and asked the public to help identify and catch the culprits.
