Beamr and NVIDIA are collaborating to present a solution for the slow adoption of the AV1 video format at the ACM Mile-High-Video 2024 conference. The joint research aims to automate the process of upgrading existing video libraries to AV1, addressing challenges such as high costs and complexity. By utilizing NVIDIA's hardware accelerated AV1 encoding, the proposed solution ensures performance equal to previous formats at the same cost, while maintaining video quality. This collaboration is part of Beamr's effort to facilitate the transition to AV1 adoption at scale, with plans to launch a new video cloud service on Amazon's AWS powered by NVIDIA.
