Xuan Kha Tran Pham, a Virginia man accused of attacking two staff members at Rep. Gerry Connolly's office with a metal baseball bat, refused to appear at his arraignment. Pham allegedly hit two staffers with a metal bat and also damaged parts of the office, breaking glass and shattering computers. He was arraigned on four charges, including one count of a hate crime, a misdemeanor, for a statement Pham allegedly made to a woman in her car minutes before the attack on Connolly's staff. Pham will be given a court-appointed attorney and has a preliminary hearing on July 17 at 2 p.m.
Denise Solorzano, a 26-year-old woman from Chicago, has been charged with attacking eight women in five separate incidents, including hitting some of them with a bat, punching them, and trying to run two people over with her car. Prosecutors said that Solorzano, who has mental health issues, targeted women in the community and children. She has been charged with three counts of aggravated battery in a public place, four counts of aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, and one count of aggravated assault. Solorzano was held on $800,000 bond and is due in court on May 17.
A 26-year-old woman, Denise Solorzano, has been charged with eight felony charges after randomly attacking at least five women with a bat on the Northwest Side of Chicago between Sunday and Tuesday. The charges include three counts of aggravated battery in a public place, four counts of aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, and one count of aggravated assault. Solorzano was arrested on Wednesday and is expected to appear in bond court on Thursday.
