Conflicting Reports Surround Liberman's Involvement in Israeli Unity Government
Avigdor Liberman, leader of the Yisrael Beytenu party, denied joining Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's emergency government shortly after it was announced by Likud. Liberman expressed dissatisfaction with Netanyahu's offer and instead wants a position on the newly created war cabinet. He offered to join the government on the condition that Israel seeks to eliminate Hamas and its leaders. The back-and-forth comes after Benny Gantz and his National Unity party joined the government, forming a high-level war cabinet. Opposition leader Yair Lapid is not planning to join the government.
