"Unforgettable: Solar Eclipse Over Detroit and Future U.S. Events"
Delta operated two special flights from Austin and Dallas to Detroit, allowing passengers to experience the totality of the solar eclipse from the air. Flight 1218, which departed from Austin, treated passengers to four minutes of totality as the pilots conducted turns to provide views from both sides of the aircraft. The flight, which sold out in 24 hours, created a festive atmosphere with passengers getting to know each other, capturing the eclipse, and even witnessing a marriage proposal. The flight required extensive planning and coordination with air traffic control to ensure a successful and memorable experience for all on board.
