A hacker named Chris has developed a PCIe card called PCIce, which is a holder and controller for an 80mm fan to cool server expansion cards used in desktop builds. The card gets 12V from the PCIe slot and has an ATTiny to control the fan's speed, with LEDs displaying the current speed. The schematics and firmware are open-source, and Chris has manufactured a batch of PCIce cards for sale. This cooling solution is useful for making use of cheap server-purpose cards in desktop builds.
