Medical King is recalling approximately 222,000 adult portable bed rails due to risks of entrapment and asphyxia, following a reported death of a 66-year-old man in South Carolina. The recall affects three models sold online from January 2020 to March 2024. Consumers are advised to stop using the products and contact Medical King for a free repair kit or replacement. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is involved in the recall process.
The medical examiner testified that Tammy Daybell, the first wife of Lori Vallow Daybell's husband, may have been restrained when she died under mysterious circumstances in 2019. Bruises consistent with being restrained were discovered on her arms and chest, supporting the finding that her cause of death was asphyxia. Vallow Daybell is on trial for the murders of her children and for conspiring with her husband Chad to kill his first wife. Chad Daybell had also been charged in connection with the three deaths and will stand trial at a later date. The couple believes the end times are upon the world and has collected life insurance money and Social Security following the deaths of Vallow Daybell’s children and Daybell’s former wife, prosecutors claim.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Garth Warren testified in the Lori Vallow trial that seven-year-old JJ Vallow died from "asphyxia by plastic bag over the head and duct tape over the mouth." JJ also had low levels of alcohol, caffeine, and theobromine in his system, but it is unclear if he had consumed or was given the drug GHB. Warren also testified that Tylee's cause of death was a homicide, but the exact means of how she died could not be pinpointed.
