Bulgarian police discover valuable Jackson Pollock painting during raid.
Bulgarian police investigating international art smugglers have discovered a previously unknown painting by American artist Jackson Pollock, which could be worth up to $54 million. Several people, including Bulgarian citizens, were arrested in the international operation. The report did not give a description of the painting or any other details on the work. Pollock was a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement of the 1940s and 50s, known for his technique of pouring, dribbling and dripping paint in wild patterns onto large canvases.
