Aroh Barjatya, an Indian-born scientist, led NASA's mission to study the impact of a total solar eclipse on the ionosphere. The mission, called Atmospheric Perturbations around the Eclipse Path (APEP), involved launching three sounding rockets during the eclipse to investigate disruptions in the Earth’s upper atmosphere. Barjatya, who is an engineering and physics professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, expressed gratitude to his colleagues and students for their support. He has a background in electronics engineering and has pursued advanced degrees in electrical engineering and spacecraft instrumentation in the United States.
