"Poland's Massive Military Parade Marks Historic Cold War Revival"

Poland staged its largest military parade since the Cold War, showcasing its defense capabilities and seeking to strengthen its military preparedness in the wake of the conflict in Ukraine. Around 2,000 soldiers from Poland and other NATO countries participated in the parade, accompanied by 200 pieces of defense equipment and various aircraft. The country's right-wing government, led by the Law and Justice party, has been increasing defense spending and procurement of weapons, aiming to double the size of the army and allocate 4% of the nation's economic output to defense. The parade comes ahead of Poland's general election in October.

Myanmar Army Chief Vows Decisive Action Against Foes and Resistance

Myanmar's military leader, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, called for decisive action against those fighting army rule of the country during a military parade on Armed Forces Day. The military has been accused of indiscriminate killings of civilians as it engages in major offensives to suppress the armed resistance opposed to its takeover of the government two years ago. The opposition to military rule is led by a self-styled National Unity Government, or NUG, which was established by elected lawmakers who were denied their seats by the army and stakes a claim to being the country’s legitimate administration.
