LaMonte McLemore, Founding Bass of The 5th Dimension, Dies at 90
LaMonte McLemore, co-founder and bass voice of The 5th Dimension, died at age 90 in Las Vegas after years of health issues stemming from a stroke. The LA group rose to fame with hits like Up, Up and Away and Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In, earning two Grammys and achieving multiple gold and platinum certifications, plus a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. McLemore helped shape a signature blend of R&B, soul and pop and remained a key figure in the band’s legacy, surviving by his wife Mieko, daughter Ciara, a adopted son Darin, sister Joan, and three grandchildren.
