Ukraine Fast-Tracks Anti-Drone Nets Over Frontline Roads

Ukraine will speed up the placement of anti-drone nets over frontline roads, aiming to cover 4,000 km by year-end after allocating 1.6 billion hryvnias ($37m); the nets are designed to snag drone propellers and improve the safety of military movements as Russia expands drone strikes on supply routes. Deployment has risen from 5 km/day in January to 12 km/day in February, with a target of 20 km/day in March. Simultaneously, Kyiv prepares for Geneva talks with U.S. envoys on ending the war, prisoner exchanges, and postwar recovery, amid broader energy and sanctions developments, including Druzhba pipeline issues and a new UK-based drone production plant.

Russia's New Lancet Drone Successfully Evades Anti-Drone Nets, Hits US Bradley

Russia's advanced Lancet drones have found a way to evade Ukrainian defenses by using explosively formed penetrators (EFPs) that detonate in the air before reaching the target. The new drones are equipped with lidar technology, allowing them to detonate the warheads at the optimal distance. EFPs can bypass anti-drone nets and pose a significant threat to Ukrainian armored vehicles. While the best-protected vehicles should still be able to fend off the attacks, shooting down the drones or using electronic warfare to suppress them are the recommended countermeasures. Russia's Lancet drones have been advancing in range and capabilities, becoming a significant challenge on the battlefield in Ukraine.
