Scientists Capture First Live Footage of Rare and Elusive Deep-Sea Squid
Scientists for the first time filmed the live Antarctic gonate squid, Gonatus antarcticus, in the Weddell Sea at about 7,000 feet deep in 2024, revealing new insights into this elusive species first discovered in 1898 from dead specimens.
