Multiple US Airmen Killed in Tragic Osprey Crash near Japan
Major Jeffrey Hoernemann, a CV-22 instructor pilot from Andover, Minnesota, was one of the eight airmen killed in an Osprey crash off the coast of Japan during a training mission. The remains of three airmen have been recovered, while the remains of another three have been found and are being recovered. The search continues for the remains of the other two airmen. The crash has raised safety concerns about Ospreys, which have had a number of accidents in Japan. Hoernemann is the second Minnesota service member to be killed in a month.
