The Ford Mustang GTD has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first American production car to complete a lap of the Nürburgring in under seven minutes, with an official time of 6:57.685. This makes it the fifth-fastest car in its category, showcasing Ford's engineering prowess. Despite the achievement, Ford aims to improve further, as the Mustang GTD's time is still slower than some of its competitors like the Porsche 911 GT3. The announcement was delayed to coincide with the release of a documentary about the effort.
