DOJ and NY Attorney General Challenge UnitedHealth's $3.3B Amedisys Acquisition
The Justice Department, along with several state attorneys general, has filed a civil antitrust lawsuit to block UnitedHealth Group's proposed $3.3 billion acquisition of Amedisys, a home health and hospice services provider. The lawsuit argues that the merger would reduce competition, negatively impacting patients, insurers, and healthcare workers by potentially increasing costs and reducing care quality. The complaint also seeks civil penalties against Amedisys for alleged violations of the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.
