New images reveal terrifying hybrid of Great White shark and giant sea creature.
Scientists have discovered a sea beast, Dunkleosteus terrelli, that lived during the Devonian period and was a cross between a Great White shark and an Amazonian catfish. It had a bite more powerful than any fish that ever lived, with jaw power likely exceeding 1,100 pounds of force per bite. The creature belonged to an early group known as placoderms and had a much larger mouth relative to its body length than sharks, with relative mouth width more similar to predatory catfishes.
