The New York State Department of Health warns of potential measles exposure at Albany Medical Center and Saratoga Hospital after an adult patient from Vermont, who traveled internationally, visited both hospitals before being diagnosed with measles. The risk is low, but those at Saratoga Hospital on July 14 and Albany Medical Center on July 16 are advised to contact the hospitals.
Two Saratoga County sheriff’s deputies and a suspect were shot during a federal narcotic search warrant execution in Clifton Park. The wounded have been taken to Albany Medical Center. One deputy was shot in the leg, and the other was shot in the chest but was wearing a bulletproof vest. The suspect is not expected to survive.
A fatal crash occurred on Troy-Schenectady Road in Niskayuna on Saturday afternoon, with the driver of one vehicle dying at the scene and the occupants of the second vehicle transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment. The Niskayuna Police Department and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office are investigating and asking any witnesses to come forward.
Albany Medical Center was placed on lockdown after police received a call for a person who possibly had a handgun. A Code Silver was issued, and negotiations are ongoing with the potentially armed assailant who is believed to be isolated in one room. All staff and patients are safe, and the hospital is still open for business, but all outpatient appointments have been canceled for the remainder of the day. Investigations are ongoing.
