Alaska Peninsula hit by powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake, tsunami alert issued
A powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck near the Alaska Peninsula, about 55 miles southwest of Sand Point, prompting a brief tsunami warning. The National Weather Service issued the warning, which was later downgraded to an advisory and then canceled. Although a tsunami was generated, it no longer poses a threat, but some areas may experience small sea level changes.
