Backlash Over Starfield Coverage Sparks Calls for PlayStation Writers and Developers to be Fired
Some individuals in the PlayStation fandom have called for the firing of gaming journalist and YouTuber Alanah Pearce for playing and promoting the Xbox exclusive game Starfield. Pearce, who is also a writer for the Sony-exclusive God of War Ragnarok, addressed the absurdity of the situation in a YouTube video, emphasizing that the console wars only exist among a small minority of gamers and not within the industry itself. She highlighted that developers often work across different companies and that enjoying video games should not be a cause for online attacks. Pearce also revealed that she now faces restrictions when covering PlayStation games, while still being able to work with Microsoft and Nintendo.
