"Jack Leiter's Rollercoaster MLB Debut with the Rangers"

Texas Rangers rookie Jack Leiter was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock one day after allowing seven runs in his major league debut. The No. 2 pick in the 2021 draft, Leiter, son of former MLB pitcher Al Leiter, struggled in his debut, allowing seven runs on eight hits in 3⅔ innings. The Rangers recalled right-hander Owen White from Round Rock to provide bullpen depth for their weekend series against the Atlanta Braves.

Mets Hall of Fame Inducts Legends and Celebrates Broadcasters.

Howard Johnson and Al Leiter were inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame, along with broadcasters Gary Cohen and Howie Rose, and media relations executive Jay Horwitz. Johnson played for the Mets from 1985 to 1993 and ranks third in team history with 202 stolen bases and fourth in homers (192) and RBIs (629). Leiter grew up a Mets fan in New Jersey before pitching for the team from 1998 through 2004. Cohen and Rose have called the team's games on radio and television since 1989 and 1995, respectively.
