Apple has launched its first public beta for AirPods firmware, allowing users to test upcoming iOS 26 features such as automatic pausing, studio-quality audio recording, camera remote, automatic CarPlay switching, and enhanced call quality, initially available for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 models.
The macOS Tahoe Beta 2 introduces several updates including a restored Finder icon, a new menu bar background option, AirPods beta firmware support, and other system enhancements like Recovery Assistant and app independence from Rosetta 2, with a public release expected in September.
Apple will soon offer public beta testing for AirPods firmware updates through the Apple Beta Software Program, starting in July, allowing users to test new features like improved audio quality, studio recording, and camera remote functions without needing a developer account.
