American Airlines' Massive Aircraft Order: 345 New Jets from Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer

American Airlines has placed an order for 260 new planes, including a significant number of Boeing 737 Max jets, to bolster its domestic and short-haul international network and expand first-class seating. The order includes 85 Airbus A321neo, 85 Boeing 737 Max 10, and 90 Embraer E175 aircraft, with options for an additional 193 planes. This comes as the FAA increases oversight of Boeing following an incident involving a Max 9 jet. IndiGo airline set to make historic 500-plane order from Airbus.

Airbus is close to securing a deal to sell 500 A320 narrow-body planes to IndiGo, which would be the largest order ever by volume. The deal is not yet finalized, but Airbus is the current frontrunner. IndiGo is already an exclusive buyer of narrow-body jets from Airbus, but was also considering Boeing 737 Max for its potentially historic order. India is the world's fastest growing aviation market and is predicted to need about 2,210 new airplanes over the next two decades, with single-aisle jets comprising 90% of that.
