Florida Deputy Fired for Fatal Shooting of Black Airman
Deputy Eddie Duran was fired from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office after an internal investigation found his use of deadly force against Black U.S. Air Force airman Roger Fortson was "not objectively reasonable." Fortson, who was holding a legally owned firearm, was shot six times after opening his apartment door. The incident is under a separate criminal investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
