"Airline Introduces Voluntary Passenger Weighing for Safety Assessment"
Finnair will ask passengers to voluntarily weigh themselves and their carry-on baggage before takeoff to collect aircraft cargo data, with the information being used to update weight averages last calculated in 2018 and ensure aircraft balance and flight stability. The collected data will be anonymous and not linked to personal information, and will be used for aircraft balance calculations starting next year after being signed off by Finnish authorities.
