Pakistan's Imran Khan harnesses AI speech to secure virtual votes amidst internet shutdown
Pakistan's jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan used an AI-generated audio clip to address a virtual rally, as his party is not allowed to hold public gatherings. The clip, played over an AI-generated image, drew over 1.4 million views on YouTube and was attended live by tens of thousands on social media. Khan urged supporters to turn out in large numbers for the upcoming general elections, expressing concerns about transparency due to internet disruptions during the livestream. Khan, who is currently serving a three-year sentence on graft charges, is facing numerous court cases and alleges a state-backed crackdown on his party.
