Mexico City-based restaurant La Popular is opening its second American location in Austin, Texas, offering classic taqueria fare such as al pastor, carnitas, and rib-eye tacos, as well as enchiladas, fajitas, and ceviche. The restaurant's cocktail menu focuses on agave spirits, with over 80 labels of tequila, mezcal, and adjacent plants like sotol. La Popular's Austin location features wood paneling, chevron-patterned wooden floors, a live-fire kitchen, and neon light fixtures. The restaurant is open seven days a week, with happy hour offered Monday to Friday.
