The Moorhead City Council delayed its planned aerial mosquito spraying after residents expressed concerns about pollinator safety and environmental impact, opting instead for ground spraying while reviewing its mosquito control policies amid ongoing debates about health risks and ecological effects.
Intense West Nile virus activity has been reported in Davis and Woodland, prompting the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District to conduct aerial spraying in an effort to reduce mosquito activity. This is the first time aerial spraying has been done since 2018. The spraying will cover a total of 24,000 acres over two nights. Residents are advised to take precautions such as avoiding outdoor activities during dawn and dusk, wearing protective clothing, and using insect repellent.
Palm Beach County's Division of Mosquito Control will conduct aerial spraying to combat increased mosquito levels and potential vector borne disease threats. The spraying will cover approximately 165,000 acres, including populated areas west of Military Trail, such as Jupiter, Acreage/Loxahatchee/Royal Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington, and the Glades communities. Residents are advised to use insect repellent, wear protective clothing, and minimize standing water on their properties.
