Adamawa Electoral Commissioner Flown Out in Private Jet After Wrongful Declaration.

Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa State, was flown out of Yola in a private jet after he illegally and wrongfully announced Aishatu Dahiru Binani, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the governorship election in the state. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved Yunusa-Ari’s immediate suspension pending the completion of an investigation by the Inspector General of Police on his conduct/actions during the election. An officer of Nigeria’s secret police, Department of State Services (DSS), alleged that Yunusa-Ari was paid N2 billion to declare Binani as the winner of the governorship election in the state.

Governor Fintiri Wins Controversial Adamawa Election Amid Police Shake-Up

Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the winner of the Adamawa State governorship election with 430,861 votes, defeating Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani of the All Progressives Congress who had 398,788 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called for the investigation and prosecution of its Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, who had earlier declared Binani the winner before being overruled by INEC headquarters in Abuja and subsequently suspended.
