A firefighter in Colorado Springs was injured while responding to a building fire in downtown. The building was empty, and the cause of the fire is unknown. The firefighter was hurt while getting off the fire engine and the extent of the injury is currently unknown.

A 16-year-old boy suffered a serious brain injury after a large section of a live oak tree fell on him in Jackson Square, New Orleans. The family has retained lawyer Morris Bart and plans to sue the city, claiming negligence for not roping off the area after a smaller part of the tree had fallen 10 days earlier. The family has requested privacy and prayers, and Bart expects to file the lawsuit by the end of next week. The city has not yet responded to the incident.
