Remembering 'Joe the Plumber': Samuel Wurzelbacher's Legacy Lives On
Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher, known as "Joe the Plumber" after questioning Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign, has died at the age of 49. Wurzelbacher, who later ventured into politics himself, passed away after a long illness, having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He gained fame for his exchange with Obama about economic policies and went on to campaign with John McCain and Sarah Palin. Despite his initial popularity, Wurzelbacher's bid for a U.S. House seat in 2012 was unsuccessful, and he returned to working as a plumber.
