Intel has announced a range of 14th-generation Core desktop CPUs and new high-end gaming and workstation laptop CPUs, as well as non-Ultra chips with the new "Core 3/5/7" branding. However, the new naming system has made it more confusing, as some chips are labeled as 14th-gen Core while others are labeled as Core (Series 1) but are essentially the same. The new Series 1 Core chips are based on a clock speed bump of Raptor Lake, similar to the 13th-gen U-series processors, leading to confusion and frustration among consumers.

Intel has launched its 14th-generation desktop processors, which offer only minor improvements compared to the previous generation. The new CPUs are compatible with current motherboards after a BIOS update, and Intel is not releasing new motherboards to accompany them. The processors, branded as a throwback, lack significant changes in terms of core count, cache, memory speeds, and power requirements. Clock speeds have seen a slight increase, but overall, there are not many compelling reasons to upgrade from the 12th-gen to the 14th-gen CPUs.
