Shimano Unveils 12-Speed GRX Di2 with Wireless Features and Gravel Enhancements

Shimano has unveiled the GRX Di2 RX825, a redesigned electronic gravel groupset featuring a 12-speed cassette and a semi-wireless setup. While it boasts excellent ergonomics, top-tier shifting performance, and a competitive price, it lacks the much-anticipated wide-range 1x configuration. The new system includes independent shifters with long-lasting batteries and a single battery for the derailleurs, but it remains a 2x12 format for now. Despite its impressive features, the absence of a 1x option may overshadow its advancements.

Shimano Introduces 12-Speed Disc Brake Only 105 Groupset

Shimano has announced the release of the new 105 mechanical groupset, featuring a switch from 11-speed to 12-speed and disc brakes only. This follows the trend of Shimano's higher-end groupsets, Ultegra and Dura-Ace, which have transitioned to electronic-only versions. The new 105 groupset offers similar features to its electronic counterpart, including chainset and cassette options, brake calipers, and rotors. The shifters and derailleurs have been updated, with a refined lever shape for improved reach. The groupset is priced at around £750 / €1150 / $1150 for a full set.

SRAM's Latest Drivetrain Revolutionizes Mountain Biking.

SRAM has launched its new Eagle Transmission, a 12-speed electronic drivetrain that is free of wires, derailleur hangers, limit screws, or B-tension adjustments. The XO drivetrain has been tested over 1,000 miles and 175,000 vertical feet of climbing over the course of 65 rides. The new aluminum crankset is the most eye-catching part of the new groupset, and the cassette maintains the 10-52 tooth gear spread found on SRAM's Eagle drivetrains. The XO chain has a black finish that SRAM calls 'Dark Polar', and it has a PVD coating to ward off corrosion and improve its lifespan. The XO groupset is priced at $1,599.
