"Boeing engineers set new world record with paper airplane flight"

Two Boeing engineers, Dillon Ruble and Garrett Jensen, with the help of Nathaniel Erickson, set a Guinness World Record for the farthest flight by a paper airplane, after making one that flew 289 feet 9 inches, almost the entire length of a football field. The engineers studied aerospace, mechanical engineering, origami, and aerodynamics while designing their plane, and spent 400 to 500 hours building and testing prototypes. Their design was inspired by hypersonic aerospace vehicles, and they found the optimal angle to be about 40 degrees off the ground. The previous record was 252 feet 7 inches.
