"IDF Soldier Injured in Border Shootout with Smugglers"

An Israeli soldier was wounded in a shootout with suspected drug smugglers on the Egypt-Israel border near the Nitzana crossing. The IDF identified around 20 suspects on the Egyptian side, some of whom were armed. Following the incident, six drug smugglers were arrested by Egyptian security officials. The IDF is now searching the area for potential terrorist infiltration, as there are increased fears of such incidents during anti-drug smuggling operations. Smuggling through the Negev border has been a persistent problem for both Israel and Egypt.
