Turkish Lawmaker Collapses in Parliament After Prophesying Israel's Divine Retribution

Turkish lawmaker Hasan Bitmez collapsed in parliament after reportedly having a heart attack following a speech in which he stated that Israel would "suffer the wrath of Allah." Bitmez was given chest compressions for a long time before being taken to the hospital in critical condition. The Saadet Party deputy is currently listed as being in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Turkey and Israel recently normalized ties, but relations have soured since a strike by Hamas into southern Israel. President Erdogan has taken a strong position against Israel, accusing its allies of creating a "crusade war atmosphere." Turkey has also pledged humanitarian aid to Gaza.
