Suspected Russian Diplomat Squats on Vetoed Embassy Site in Australia

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that the site of the proposed Russian embassy was secure, despite a Russian diplomat squatting on the land. Australia passed a law earlier this month to prevent Russia from moving its embassy to a prime site close to parliament and the Chinese embassy, citing national security concerns. The Russian diplomat has diplomatic immunity, and police are unable to arrest him. Moscow recently barred 48 Australians from entering Russia in retaliation for Australia's sanctions regime against the country.
