Sheinbaum maintains strong lead as Mexican presidency race tightens

A recent opinion poll by Parametria shows that Claudia Sheinbaum, the candidate of Mexico's ruling National Regeneration Movement (MORENA) party, maintains a significant lead in the race for the country's presidential election in June 2024. Sheinbaum has 52% support, while her main rival, Xochitl Galvez of a right-left alliance, trails behind with 25%. The poll also reveals that Samuel Garcia of the opposition center-left Citizens' Movement (MC) has 10% support. Sheinbaum's lead has slightly decreased from a previous survey, but she still enjoys a substantial advantage. If elected, Sheinbaum or Galvez would become Mexico's first female president.
