Serbia in Turmoil: Protests, Shootings, and Political Upheaval

Tens of thousands of people protested in Belgrade against the Serbian government's policies and a culture of violence that has led to two mass shootings in the country. Opposition parties organized the rally, blaming the government for failing to rein in media that promotes violence and to act against criminal elements in society. The government denies the allegations and accuses the opposition of staging protests for political gain. The protesters demanded more media freedoms and the resignation of President Aleksandar Vucic, Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic, and Aleksandar Vulin, the director of Serbia's security agency.
