Russian Opposition Leader Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for Speaking Out Against War in Ukraine

Russian opposition figure Vladimir Kara-Murza has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for speaking out against Putin's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Kara-Murza, who has survived two poisoning attempts, was convicted of treason and spreading "false information" about the Russian army. The U.S. State Department condemned the sentence and called for his immediate release, as well as the release of other political prisoners in Russia. The British Embassy has also raised his case with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
