Putin's Historical Map Sparks Controversy

Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again claimed that Ukraine did not exist before the creation of the USSR, citing a map presented to him by the chairman of the Constitutional Court. Putin stated that the lands were part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Kingdom of Muscovy before the Soviet government created Soviet Ukraine. This is not the first time Putin has made such claims, which have been widely criticized as pseudo-historical.
