Former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been released without charge after being arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into the SNP's funding and finances. Sturgeon, who denies any wrongdoing, was questioned by detectives for seven hours before being released. The police investigation has been ongoing for two years and centres on £660,000 of donations given to the SNP by independence activists for use in a future independence referendum campaign. Sturgeon's husband, former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell, and the party's treasurer Colin Beattie have also been arrested and released pending further investigations.
