EU Leaders Face Opposition from Poland and Hungary on Migration Reform

Poland and Hungary have blocked a joint declaration on migration policy after an informal gathering of European Union leaders in Granada, Spain. The disagreement comes despite an earlier agreement among the bloc's diplomats this week to present a migration reform package to the European Parliament. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki rejected the migration policy reference in the joint statement, while Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban insisted that decisions should have been taken by consensus. French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Poland and Hungary's disagreement did not necessarily mean that a final deal on migration would be blocked. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected Poland and Hungary's stance, emphasizing that agreed-upon rules should apply to everyone.
