Diplomatic Tensions Rise Between Italy and France.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani cancelled his trip to Paris after French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin criticised Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's handling of migration issues and accused her of lying to voters. Tajani called Darmanin's comments insulting and unacceptable. The French government issued a statement seeking to reassure Rome of its willingness to work closely with Italy, but it was not enough to persuade Tajani to catch his plane. This is the latest in a series of clashes between Paris and Rome since Meloni took office last October at the head of a nationalist, conservative government.
