Controversial Zulu Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi laid to rest in South Africa

Thousands of mourners gathered in South Africa for the state funeral of Mangosuthu Buthelezi, a veteran politician, Zulu prince, and controversial figure during the apartheid liberation struggle. Mourners dressed in traditional Zulu outfits and engaged in rituals ahead of the service. Buthelezi, founder of the Inkatha Freedom Party, served as Minister of Home Affairs in the post-apartheid government after reconciling with his ANC rival. His Zulu nationalist movement clashed with the ANC in the past, but they made peace for the 1994 election. Buthelezi stepped down as IFP leader in 2019.
