"Argentina's Lower House Passes Milei's Sweeping Reform Bill"

Argentina's lower house of Congress has approved in general terms a sweeping cost-cutting reform bill, dubbed the omnibus bill, after three days of heated debate. The legislation, which has some 300 articles, still needs to undergo negotiations in the lower house and be approved by the Senate. The bill has sparked massive protests in the country, with some lawmakers expressing reservations about articles related to privatization and delegation of legislative powers. President Milei, a libertarian and anarcho-capitalist, aims to lift state controls over the economy, reform the administrative, health, and education sectors, and raise public service and utility rates to address the high inflation rates.
