US Navy Foils Iran's Attempt to Seize Tankers in Gulf of Oman

The US Navy intervened to prevent Iranian Navy ships from seizing two oil tankers in separate incidents in the Gulf of Oman. In the first incident, an Iranian Navy vessel approached a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker, but changed course and left the area after a US Navy destroyer and maritime patrol aircraft approached. In the second incident, an Iranian Navy ship opened fire at a different oil tanker, but no one was injured and the Iranian vessel left the scene as a US Navy destroyer approached.
