UN urges PA to investigate Israelis' disappearance in Gaza on Palestinian Prisoners Day.

The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has instructed the Palestinian Authority to investigate the disappearance and incarceration of Israeli citizens Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, who are being held in the Gaza Strip under Hamas rule. The committee also asked the PA to ensure that the two receive adequate medical treatment for their psychiatric problems. The families of the two Israelis made the appeal to the committee, which has no authority to coerce the PA to take action, but it may pressure the PA to act in order to release the prisoners.
