"UN Security Council Urges Russia to Return Georgian Territory"

Six Western nations on the UN Security Council, including the United States, United Kingdom, and France, have demanded that Russia return the South Ossetia and Abkhazia regions to Georgia, which were taken during the 2008 Russian invasion. The joint statement condemned Russia's aggression and called for the restoration of Georgia's territorial integrity. The statement also criticized Russia's military exercises, installation of barriers, and discrimination against Georgians. In response, the Russian ambassador accused the Western countries of hypocrisy and claimed that ties between Russia and Georgia were improving.
